The Vehicular Navigational System Prototype is a guidance system for vehicles, using dead reckoning. The movements of the vehicle are detected through concealed sensors located at the front wheels of the vehicle. Sensors provide monitor the rate that each wheel turns. From this rate, the speed of the vehicle and the steering angle of the wheel can be determined. These inputs are fed into the computer's serial port and are processed. The prototype's software component uses the input from the sensors to update the position of the vehicle in relation to the graphically-represented road map of the area. It is through this interface that the user is able to avail of the prototype system's features. The prototype was specifically designed for vehicles similar to the one used for the system. Therefore, the prototype can be developed in the future by providing a pre-constructed mount for the circuits. The software can also be made to provide the user with additional features, depending on the current needs of the users. The accuracy of the system itself may be upgraded without necessarily increasing the cost of the system. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16600 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository |
