Summary: | The growing need of business firms to disseminate information in a faster pace has brought about the emergence of the courier service industry. The public, especially the business sector, wants to have an effective and reliable form of communication. In order to become an active partner in international (as well as domestic) ventures, it is necessary to spread to various companies the services which Federal Express could offer.
This research study has identified the different prospective companies within the specified industries namely: the handicrafts, garment, pharmaceuticals, buying office/agents/traders and semiconductor industry. The characteristics that these firms look for in courier companies were also identified. Based on the results of the survey, the primary reason for choosing a courier company is fast pick-up service followed by low rates, buyer nomination, reliability, long credit terms and good service.
After analyzing the results of the survey, the researchers came up with some recommendations which Federal Express may use to further improve their services. These recommendations include the following: increase availability of vans, constant follow ups, providing each account executive with a pager, employment of tele-marketeers and establishment of a computerized database system. |
