Estrada, Deanna Pua, Trinidad C.B. Uy, Candice S. This practicum paper evaluates Southgate Limited's performance as a buying agent and their effectivity in promoting Philippine products. As background information on Southgate, its history, nature of business, organizational set-up, product lines, export markets served, 4 PS, competitors' analysis and vendors' profile are also discussed. A training report completed on 400 hours by the practicum members was also mentioned. Through observations, the group identified the company's strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats which might affect its operations as a buying agent. To evaluate Southgate's performance as a buying agent, the group used the following evaluation tools: 1. actual bookings vis a vis company's projections 2. actual bookings vis a vis industry growth 3. actual booking trends 4. booking-shipment variance and 5. merchandise claims. Controllable and uncontrollable factors were derived from the last three tools. Observations and interviews were conducted to examine these factors. The performance appraisal and controllable factors were integrated to evaluate Southgate's performance. The group was able to come up with conclusions and recommendations to maintain and improve company's current operations. These recommendations are: explore, develop, and sell new product categories, source new vendors, learn costing of raw materials, administer preliminary and in-line inspection, and update with technical aspect of quality control. If Southgate Limited implements these recommendations, the group conservatively expects a 10% increase in bookings and a 15% decrease in merchandise claims. 1992-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16860 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository
