This feasibility study on The Demand For Plastic-Based Products was undertaken to determine what products are the most in-demand in the consumer and organizational market in order to identify the products that San Miguel Packaging Products (SMPP) can consider manufacturing during the low season of production. This is to maximize the use of the plant equipment as well as ensure a continuous work schedule of plant personnel throughout the year. The study identified the size, color and shape preferred by the market in relation to the said top two products. In addition, some information with regards to pricing, usage rate, source and other buying decisions of the target market were also presented. Data were gathered thru in-depth interviews with the operations manager or his representative in each establishment included in the sampling. The purposive sampling technique was used and the convenience method of selection was employed in getting the sample. Industries included in the sample were: 1. Hotel Industry = Hotel Nikko Manila Garden & Shangri-La Manila. 2. Hospital Industry = Makati Medical Center & UST Gen. Hospital. 3. Distribution Centers = SM Mega Mall & Divisoria. The results showed that the pail has the best chance of succeeding in the market with a 56 out of a possible 60 weighing score followed closely by the trash can which garnered 52 points. The study also revealed that the pails identified by the respondents are bright in color with no particular preference in size. On the other hand, dark colored and small-sized trashcans are the ones unanimously preferred by the respondents. Furthermore, the study identified currently available plastic-based products marketed under these brand names: Plastimare, Plastiware, Orocan, textware, Fargoware and Sinkian Hen. The study also revealed that organizational markets like hotels and hospitals buy plastic products because of their durability whereas the consumer market stresses on price of the products. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16933 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository
