Bernadette Barcenilla, Romina This study focused on the inter-institutional dynamics that occur between the recruitment agencies and the government and private sectors in sending Filipina Overseas Performing Artists (OPAs) to Japan. In order to obtain relevant data, key informant in-depth interviews were conducted with the use of an interview guide among sixteen (16) respondents, all of whom come from the departments of the institutions active in the process of deploying Filipina overseas performing artists. The in-depth interviews focused on the four components of inter-institutional linkages: networking, information sharing, synergy and pragmatism. The functions of each institution were determined, as well as the benefits and costs of having inter-institutional linkages and the adjustments made to adapt or eliminate the problems encountered as a result of having linkages. The findings in this study reveal that the inter-institutional linkages are very important in the process of deploying Filipina entertainers to Japan. Institution engage in linkages to be able to become more efficient in its performance of its tasks, to form contacts, to receive various forms of information from other institutions, to produce more than if they had actually worked without linkages and to be able to perform the pragmatic task of accomplishing institutional goals. However, as it may have benefits, it also has costs. The benefits and costs have a common cause, and this is the linkage between the institutions. The benefits of engaging into linkages are the contacts that the institutions form, the open lines of communication, and the clarity of tasks and responsibilities. On the other hand, most of the problems are those that create delays and lags, which is a result of the nature of dependency or interdependency in linkages. When such problems are encountered though, different adjustment strategies were utilized by the institutions in order to minimize, if not eliminate, the problem. This ability of the institutions to adapt is what make the linkages exist up to this very day, and provides ways on how to improve the deployment process. 2000-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16963 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository |
