Contemporary Designs, Inc. is a company consisting of 8 people enrolled in the Business Management major in Entrepreneurship course of De La Salle University-Taft. The corporation was formed during the Environmental Scanning subject of the proponents. This corporation decided to test the feasibility of the manufacturing and selling of a CD organizer called 'Disc-O-File'.
The plant site is located at #7 North 14th Street, Phase III Angela Village, Las Piñas. The plant site is used by the proponents to produce Disc-O-File. The plant site is also used by the proponents in holding meetings and in documenting the study.
Disc-O-File is a 15 cm. high X 15.5 cm. wide X 4 cm. 2-in-1 CD Organizer. It functions, either as a CD Holder or a filofax. Also, one may use Disc-O-File both as a CD holder and a Filofax in one.
This, together with its large capacity of carring 30 CDs gives it a competitive advantage. The unique outer phasing of Disc-O-File is made of waterproof, synthetic material that protects the CDs from getting wet, and cushions the Cds from mild and minor destruction and carelessness.
The primary market of Disc-O-File of male and female, ages 12 to 18 high school students from De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ), Paco Catholic School (PCS) and Philippine Institute of Quezon City (PIQC). The reason for choosing such a primary market is the familiarity and accessibility of the proponents with these schools.
The proponents would market the product by selling it at a reasonable price of P 180.00. The compensates the product cost of P 94.39. Disc-O-File would be sold in shopping malls and record bars (through consignment), bazaars and through personal selling. The product would be advertised with the use of posters, web site and through word of mouth.
Warranties, Discounts, Free CD cleaners and fillers and return & exchange would be used as promotional strategies for Disc-O-File.
Contemporary Designs, Inc. made use of a corporation as its form of ownership because of its advantages of limited liability, unlimited life and ease of raising capital and transfer of ownership.
A functional organizational structure was devised by the proponents to ensure order to the proponents. The organizational chart also presents the proponents and his position in Contemporary Designs, Inc. Duties and responsibilities are mentioned in the legal and management study to prevent overlapping of duties.
A financial study was made, based on assumption on certain things, to learn if Contemporary Designs, Inc. would be able to acquire reasonable profit from the manufacturing and selling of Disc-O-File to the market. The Financial Study gives the allocations on budget and would give an idea on the financial status of the company based on the financial statements.
The amount of capitalization required would be P 3000 for each proponent, to be able to purchase necessary tools, supplies and materials needed in the production and selling of Disc-O-File, and to compensate for expense incurred.
In the socio-economic study, the benefits of Contemporary Designs, Inc. in its production and sale of Disc-O-File to the public are presented. The factors that contribute to the social desirability of the project. The study is important to society because it gives students an ideas on how a company would be able to provide good to society. It encourages them to become good entrepreneurs and start their own business. To the proponents, this study serves as a proof on their ability to take on new challenges in life. It trains them on how to become good and effective entrepreneurs.
The country benefits from this study by the payment of company taxes, provision of employment and becoming a part of small-medium enterprises.
The environment benefits, too, by the efficiency of the proponents Contemporary Design, Inc. utilizes their resources, and as much as possible does not waste any. |
