Summary: | The IT Immersion program, now on its third year, has been providing students a unique perspective on the industry through a hands-on approach of letting senior students delve into actual software development. A group of twenty-three students, which soon grew to thirty-one was chosen to represent the college in various IT firms around the city. Eight were assigned to the First Philippine Software Corp. (PhilSoft).
After a two-week orientation on the company, its work, its relation to the rest of the subsidiaries and affiliates of the First Philippine Holdings Corporation, and most especially its people, the group had a fairly good idea of what it would be facing. The students' entry into the company was a timely one too. PhilSoft was just getting ready for its ISO 9001 certification. Part of the orientation included an overall familiarization with the prescribed Quality Management System, the project lifecycle being used in PhilSoft, and office policies. |
