Summary: | The study aimed to identify the motivations and management skills and style of the selected female CEOs of HIV/AIDS/RH non-government organizations in Metro Manila. Specifically, it identified the work profile, history, and experiences of both the women CEOs and their NGOs. The study also explored the female NGO CEOs' preparations for their current executive positions, and the mechanisms they used to continually upgrade their management skills. Moreover, the motivations of these women CEOs were identified in working for an HIV/AIDS/RH NGO, as well as the benefits they obtained from working in one. Lastly, the study also explored their assessment of management style and the difficulties and solutions they have encountered in managing their NGOs. In encountering these constraints, their strategies were also identified as well as their plans and aspirations for the future.
The respondents were Chief Executive Officers, comprising of 15 women from HIV/AIDS/RH NGOs in Metro Manila that were interviewed using the interview guide. In analyzing the data, content analysis was used.
The results showed that these women CEOs had participative and supportive style in managing their NGOs. Also, that growth and self-fulfillment are the primary mechanisms that motivate the women CEOs to work in an HIV/AIDS/RH NGO.
In conclusion, these women give low regard to financial gains. Their motherly roles and work experiences on the field with their staff bind the women CEO and the members of their NGO together. This is the main reason for the close-knit and family-like work environment in their work place. |
