Summary:The study primarily aims to describe the different kinds and numerous sources of parent-child conflict that are experienced by parents and their DLSU freshman students, and the conflict management strategies they use in trying to come up with a resolution to their conflicts. Data were gathered through the use of a survey questionnaire. The researchers used a descriptive research design and a non-probability sampling method specifically purposive sampling for the selection of the respondents. The respondents were drawn from the population of De La Salle University College of Liberal Arts freshmen. A pre-test was done before doing the actual data gathering, to ensure the validity of the instrument. The data gathered were about the perceptions of the respondents on the nature of parent-child conflict, in terms of its kinds and sources, the actual conflict they experience with which parent, and the strategies they and their parents use in managing these conflicts. The parent-child conflict commonly experienced by the respondents was the complementary kind, particularly, their parents shout while they keep silent. The most common source of parent-child conflict was behavior. The management strategy they use in handling parent-child conflicts is a compromise, particularly, finding a middle ground that both parties can benefit from.
