Description
Summary:Judges are expected to uphold integrity in administering justice. It is for this reason that the judiciary must maintain independence, impartiality, and credibility in their work. This thesis aims to evaluate the implications of the special allowance given by Local Government Units to the members of the judiciary. The additional remuneration is allowed by the law through Republic Act 7160. However, such allowances may raise questions on their integrity especially in the exercise of their function. The Supreme Court formulated the New Philippine Code of Judicial Conduct to set guidelines for the actions of its member. In this regard, the study will also tackle the extent of jurisdiction of the Supreme Court vis-Ã -vis Congress exercise of its rule making power.
