Description
Summary:For more than three decades, the conflict in the region in Mindanao has resulted in the obstruction of its development. The conflict in Mindanao is between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Government of the Philippines. The goal of the MILF is the freedom and independence of Mindanao from the Philippines. After decades of conflict between the two parties and numerous failed peace talks, in which one resulted in the creation of a Bangdamoro Juridical Entity (BJE), the MILF now seeks for the creation of a Mindanao sub-state. This paper will be aiming to answer the problem of the constitutionality of the Mindanao sub-state proposal of the MILF. This paper, in answering the constitutionality will be significant because the creation of a Mindanao sub-state might legally compromise the sovereignty of the Philippines, which would also affect the unity and stability of its people.
