Description
Summary:Practicum aims to bridge the gap between the academic world and the functioning world. This is an important activity because it helps identify the strength and weaknesses of the students. By strengths this refers to direct link, relationship, applicability between what is learned in school and what is practiced. Weaknesses provides an insight as to where the academic learning should be reinforce, corrected or changed so as to minimize the difference with what is practiced. There maybe no immediate and quick fix to address the weaknesses but what is important is that it is recognized by the student. Academic courses mainly Inventory Management Control, Human Behavior, and Operations Management courses contributed a lot in fulfilling activities at automated Technology (Phil.) Inc. The trainee was assigned a project to work on which would involve his knowledge and experience in planning, leadership and interaction with different levels of organization, resource and time management. The project assigned aims to provide an assessment on ATEC's production and control captive line from a different perspective, that of a student trainee. With the assessment of production planning and control system of a major captive line it is the objective that different perspective, that of a student trainee, may provide a fresh insight and recommendations to improve or modify the system. The OJT program provided the student trainee the opportunity to apply some of the academic learning to a practical manufacturing environment at the same time the student trainee was able to learn and gain new learning and knowledge such as being self conscious, adaptive, organize, and oral communication skills. OJT program helped the student trainee discover potentials and how real corporate setting works.
