Description
Summary:The study looks into the NSTP experience of the students and how it affects their perception on volunteerism. It also examines the relationship between the students characteristics, their perceptions about volunteerism, and the characteristics of the site and beneficiaries. These variables will also be related to the students NSTP experience. In-depth interviews were done to collect data and content analysis was used on the data that was gathered. Results from the fifteen interviews show that both the characteristics and perceptions of the students and beneficiaries affected their overall experiences. But despite these differences, social awareness is still a key realization after the NSTP experience. Relationships between the perceptions on volunteerism and the students NSTP experiences were also apparent from the results. Most of them had translated their experiences to their idea of volunteerism while some held on to their beliefs even before they took the subject.
