Filipino resilience: A qualitative study on determining the processes and outcomes of resilience from each family of the three social classes

Just in the year 2013, a number of natural calamities hit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). Different forms of adversity are common in the Philippines and the Filipinos, based merely on observation through the social media, showed how they are resilient by overcoming these adversities. Filipinos are known to be resilient and are naturally good in coping easily despite being in the lower social class. With the use of the phenomenological qualitative method, the research described how social class affects the resiliency of Filipinos. Results of the research showed that family, support, religion, and cultivation of emotional strength are the main strengths of Filipinos during natural calamities, and after the processes and outcomes of resilience were determined, results showed that there is no significant difference between how individuals from the three social classes behave during times of adversities, and how they are affected by the adversity.
