Chores: Its justification based on general and salesian education towards the development of a program for Don Bosco College, Canlubang, College Department

Work has always been a normal activity for man, without it he would not be able to realize his potentials. It is one of the greatest advices of Don Bosco to his Salesians - to keep on working. In Don Bosco College, Canlubang the students are asked to do chores, a manual work activity that helps keep the school clean. This study then investigated the formative aspect of work to justify the chores activity of the College Department. It looked upon model work values and substantiated them with General and Salesian concepts about work. Furthermore, it focused on the values which the Chores Activities can develop in an individual. To validate the agreement of these work values, the study involved the option of the students, faculty/ lay collaborators and Salesians of the institution. Having validated the values the study continued in creating a Chores Program which the College Department can use in implementing the Chores. This Chores Program can then be evaluated by future researchers to further clarify its value and importance.
