They are also afraid that it will taint the name of their family. It would take a lot of courage to stand up against their perpetrators. In pursuit to help these abused individuals, two bills had been drafted and proposed in Congress in order to avoid cases of battery and help those abused. It aims to uplift the individual from his/her low self-esteem. In this paper, the researchers would want to answer the issue as to whether or not here is a need to pass a law that penalizes battery against spouses and individuals in intimate relationships. Anti-Domestic Violence Bill is concerned with abuses done within the household, while Anti-Abuse of Women in Intimate Relationship (Anti-AWIR) focuses on women in intimate relationship. The researchers would want to find out whether or not there is a need to amend the two laws resulting to a unified law despite the differences in the coverage of the two bills. This paper will show both the affirmative and negative side of the reasons why there should be a separate law for the Anti-Abuse of Women in Intimate Relationship and the Anti-Domestic Violence. Presently, abuses made against women or those within a household is still covered in the Revised Penal Code, which is insufficient in providing protection for the other abuses mentioned in the two bills. Aside from this, this paper will also provide for the positive and negative aspect as to whether it is best to combine the two bills in order to have a broader scope in addressing violence within a household and in an intimate relationship. Is it best to have a separate law for battery? Or will the passing of such bill will only overlap with the existing laws such as the Revised Penal Code, the Family Code, R.A. 7610? 2004-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/18273 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Abused women Commercial Law
