Description
Summary:The objective of this paper is to formulate a 3-year corporate strategy for the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP) in line with its already existing programs to make the organization become more efficient in carrying out its mission to help the rural banking industry become more efficient and promote rural developments. In order to formulate the corporate strategy, the group looked at the current 5-year strategy prepared by the RBAP as well as its various programs for its members as a starting point by utilizing contemporary management theory as well as strategic management concepts and applications. The group also analyzed the role of the RBAP in relation to the rural banking industry as a whole and how it may position itself to improve its services to the said industry. Laws governing rural banks are also analyzed by the group so that strategies implemented are within the bounds of the existing laws of the rural banking industry as well as the Republic of the Philippines. The group found that RBAP had not fully tapped its full research capacity and has not maximized the use of new technologies to provide better service and training as well as promote more modern avenues from which rural banks may derive additional income. Based on the findings, the group's various recommendations focus on the RBAP being more effective in delivering its services to the rural banking industry by improving on its research capacity and the maximization of technology use. The recommendations also focus on RBAP being more involved with their constituents by means of catering to the opportunities present in the rural banking industry, taking into consideration the association's financial resources and maximizing them towards doing just that.
