This system study focuses on the City Shutter's roll up door operations. Based on the company's specific goals, the system was evaluated to determine its different strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats using WOT-SURG analysis. After the situation appraisal, it was determined that City Shutter's greatest problem is that City Shutters experienced 445 service delays from their total of 4,348 customer orders with an average of 1.07 day of delay, thus exceeding its target of zero installation delay and incurring an annual opportunity loss of P6,239,157.5 having the score of 4.05 in the WOT SURG Analysis making it to rank I in the list of the problems stated in the analysis. The problem's root cause was identified by further investigating the system's problem. The identified root cause is the nonconformities of the materials and lacking/missing materials. There is a 59.33% of nonconformities and 40.67% of missing materials that contributes to the reason of double handling. Among the nonconformities, 61.64% came from the curts, 28.30% from barrels, and 10.06% from covers. For the lacking materials, 42.20% is caused from the curts, 31.19% from the angle bar, and 26.61 % from side guide. It is caused by the mishandling of the materials by the workers and poor sorting system. To address these issues, solutions were proposed to strengthen the system. Workers will be given material attribute training to broaden their knowledge about the everyday raw materials they are transporting and to learn how to carefully handle each resource. In addition, these workers will be given new procedure of transporting curts with the use of forklifts. Furthermore, they will be provided mistake proofing techniques such as rearranging the placement of the side guides and angle bar to avoid confusion. The total quantitative cost will be Php44, 291 and the benefit will be Php234,131.472 after 2 years of implementation of the solution. 2019-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/18676 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Door industry—Production control Root cause analysis Operations Research, Systems Engineering and Industrial Engineering |
