Fingerlings with a mean weight of 1.35 g were stocked at 0.531 gm/cm/1/fish and 1.03 gm/cm.1/fish. Fingerling were exposed to arsenic pentoxide (AsV) concentrations of 5 ppm and 10 ppm during the test. An oxygen probe(YSI) connected to a digital oxygen meter (YSI) was used to measure the dissolved oxygen level in water at the start of the test and every 30 minutes within the 2-hour culture period.Results of the study showed that exposure to increasing concentrations of arsenic pentoxide (AsV) significantly (p0.05) increased the oxygen consumption of the fingerlings.
