The test organism were allowed to spawn using the chemical induction technique by Kobayashi (1971). The eggs and sperms were mixed and allowed to develop in culture beakers containing aerated, filtered sea water. Developing embryos were observed microscopically (43x) at different time interval within the 48 hour culture period. The study showed that the fertilization was attained in two to three minutes after the sperms were added to the eggs. Division of the two cell stage were obtained from 70 to 80 minutes. Hatching of the blastula was observed after 540 to 600 minutes. The four armed pluteal larvae stage was the highest developmental stage observed within the 48-hour culture period, taking place in 2340 minutes after addition of the sperm to the eggs. 1992-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1094 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Sea-urchins Fertilization (Biology) Embryology Experimental |
