A preliminary study on the effect of arsenic pentoxide to the specific activity of catalase from crude liver and intestine extracts of Tilapia nilotica (L.)
The catalase activity in the crude liver and intestine extracts of Tilapia nilotica was determined following intramuscular injection of Arsenic Pentoxide at different doses. Catalase activity was measured using the method of Cohen wherein the H202 was measured by reacting with a standard excess KMn0...

Macasa, Ramon O. The catalase activity in the crude liver and intestine extracts of Tilapia nilotica was determined following intramuscular injection of Arsenic Pentoxide at different doses. Catalase activity was measured using the method of Cohen wherein the H202 was measured by reacting with a standard excess KMn04 and then measuring the residual KMn04 spectrophotometrically. The specific catalase activity in the liver and intestine crude extracts of Tilapia nilotica from the control group is 6.43-25.88 mmole H202 reacted/min/mg protein and 4.50-72.15 mmole H202 reacted/ min/ mg protein respectively. At 12.5 mg/ kg, activities in the liver decreased from 25.88 to 22.52 mmole H202 reacted/min/mg protein and in the intestine from 72.15 to 36.14 mmole H202 reacted/min/mg protein. At 25 mg/kg, the activities in the liver decreased from 11.94 to 6.43 mmole H202 reacted/min/mg protein and from 16.02 to 4.5 mmole H202 reacted/min/ mg protein in the intestine. One way of analysis of variance at .05 level of significance showed that there is no significant difference in the specific catalase activity at the two doses of As205. 1992-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1098 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Tilapia Arsenic--Toxicology Catalase |
