Summary:The dermatoglyphic patterns of the fingers and the hallucal area of the feet of Filipino diabetic patients were compared to those of the Filipino non-diabetic individuals. The dermatoglyphic patterns obtained were analyzed and classified into three basic patterns loop, whorl and tented arch.Findings show 69 percent of Filipino diabetic patients possessed the loop ridge pattern on the index finger and 82 percent possessed the loop pattern on the hallucal area. Among Filipino non-diabetic individuals the whorl pattern was a common characteristics exhibited in both index finger and hallucal area. The tented arch pattern was rare with both Filipino diabetics and non-diabetics.
