The aim of this study is to analyze Severino Reyes' Mga Kuwento Ni Lola Basyang (Volume II) using structuralism. The findings are:1. Filipinos are optimistic. They feel that no matter how many hardships that come their way things will always turn out for the best.2. The Filipinos are obedient. They will follow what most of their parents tell them.3. They are devious because they get information about their enemies before they fight them.4. They are also cunning because after trying to find out information about their opponents they are able to get information they seek.5. The Filipinos are trusting by nature. It is not uncommon in the Philippines to hear of people who have been swindled by others.6. That discontentment is not uncommon in the Philippines as seen by the number of groups against the government and it policies.7. The journey motif is very much part of the Filipino trait. In the Filipino family there is always one member who leaves to go to another country.8. Filipinos practice split-level Christianity, even if most Filipinos are very religious their pagan side still exists.
