Summary: | This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the CBB Floormat Activity in the increase in the identification of the letters of the alphabet by some of the Filipino educable mentally retarded children. Using the between-group experimental design, the study sought to answer whether there was a significant difference between the pre-test scores of the experimental and control group. It also answered if there was a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group the pre-test and post-test scores of the control group and whether there was a significant difference between the post-test scores of the experimental and control groups. There was a total of 12 participants from Stepping Stone Learning Centre. After a survey questionnaire was administered to determine picture objects for the CBB Floormat Activity, a pre-test was administered and the population was divided into the control and the experimentals through random assignment. The experimental group was exposed to the CBB Floormat Activity for 10 sessions 15 minutes each, while the control group went on with their usual classes. After the 10 sessions, the post-test was administered to both groups and scores of both pre-test and post-test were compared using the CBB checklist. Several statistical methods were used to determine whether the pre-test scores of the experimental and control group had a difference.
Mann-Whitney U test was used and results showed a score of Wx=304 at alpha level.05, and with CV=.2424 wherein the appendix j was used. |
