Description
Summary:The physico-chemical characteristics of marine water behind a local refinery in Batangas Bay, San Pascual, Batangas were determined. Five sampling sites were studied from June to September, 1993. The results ranged as follows: temperature (C), 30.02 to 31.73 total solids (mg/L), 2,450 to 34,340 dissolved solids (mg/L), 2,440 to 34,205 filterable solids (mg/L), 12.08 to 107.09 pH (units), 6.29 to 7.03 salinity (parts per thousand), 2.03 to 30.26 conductivity (umhos/cm), 2,611 to 45,567 biological oxygen demand (mg/L), 0.66 to 2.44 dissolved oxygen (mg/L), 0.44 to 6.80 oil (mg/L), from 10 to 43.37 and cadmium (mg/L), from 0.02603 to 0.02627. These parameters were found to conform with the DENR standards except for oil and cadmium content.
