Due to the countries present economic situation, building a house has become very unaffordable for low income families. The cost of basic building material such as cement has steadily risen over the past years due to this unstability. This has prompted the creation of a need to develop and produce an alternative basic building material that is affordable to many people. Through the years, researchers has developed alternative building materials that will partially replace ordinary portland cement in concrete mixtures. These materials are called pozzolanas, and one such example that is already being used in the United States and in Britain is the pulverized fuel ash (PFA) or most commonly known as the fly-ash. This ash, when burnt at certain temperature, exhibits properties similar to that of ordinary portland cement. The study will make use of fly-ash as part of the cementitious material combined with ordinary portland cement (OPC) to produce concrete samples. The modulus of rupture of the concrete matrix will be tested experimentally and will be compared to that of a concrete mixture which only constitutes ordinary portland cement as its cementitious material. 1994-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1196 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Concrete--Additives Fly ash Waste products Pulverized fuel ash
