Description
Summary:The effect of Daucus carota and Citrus aurantifolia extracts (0.5 percent, 1.0 percent and 1.5 percent concentrations), on the reproductive capability of the Golden Apple snail (Ampullaria canaliculata) was assessed. The snails were exposed to the extracts for 24 hours, then observed for 15 days. Three replicates with three trials per concentration were prepared. For each trial, five male and five female snails were used. Results showed that percent survival was not significantly different in both control and treated groups. Furthermore, both carrot and dayap extracts induced an increased food consumption on the snails. However, the effect of both extracts on the reproductive capability of the snail was not determined as no eggs were laid by the control in the experiment.
