Lethal toxicity of the herbicide Thiobencarb to Tilapia nilotica
A static short-term toxicity, test was conducted to determine the lethal toxicity of the herbicide Thiobencarb to Tilapia nilotica. Three replicates were done to determine the 96hr median lethal concentration (LC50) of the herbicide Thiobencarb to T. nilotica. Generally, it was observed that mortali...

A static short-term toxicity, test was conducted to determine the lethal toxicity of the herbicide Thiobencarb to Tilapia nilotica. Three replicates were done to determine the 96hr median lethal concentration (LC50) of the herbicide Thiobencarb to T. nilotica. Generally, it was observed that mortality of Tilapia nilotica increased as concentration of Thiobencarb increased. In the first replicate, 30 percent and 80 percent mortality were observed in tilapia exposed to 2.50 mg/L and 3.0 mg/L respectively. A 10 percent mortality was noted in tilapia exposed to 2.00 mg/L. In the second replicate, tilapia which was exposed to 2.50 mg/L obtained a 10 percent mortality, while those exposed to 3.0 mg/L had a mortality of 40 percent. With the third replicate, tilapia exposed to 2.75 mg/L obtained a 25 percent mortality, 60 percent mortality was observed in tilapia exposed to 3.50 mg/L and a 100 percent mortality was observed in tilapia exposed to 4.25 mg/L. Estimates of 96 hr median lethal concentration (LC50) values of Thiobencarb, the active ingredient of Saturn 60 EC, to T. nilotica were derived from the mortality data generated from static, short-term toxicity test. LC50 value computed using the nomograph method of analysis was 3.18 mg/L. 1994-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1206 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Tilapia Herbicides--Toxicology Fishes--Mortality |
