Description
Summary:Water samples along the two sections of Marikina River, namely in Sta. Elena and Montalban were collected and their quality was assessed monthly from July to December 1994. Physico-chemical characteristics such as water temperature, total solids, pH, salinity, conductivity, and nutrient content (nitrates and orthophosphates) were evaluated. Biological factors such as BOD, phytoplankton identification and cell count, as well as chlorophylla content were also evaluated. Results suggest that Marikina River can still be classified as class C water according to the DENR criteria for freshwater.
