Description
Summary:Multiple-drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates from cases of the Philippine General Hospital were tested for the stability of their drug-resistance after incubation at an elevated temperature of 43 degrees celcius. Only three of the twenty isolates studied lost their resistance to one or all of the drugs tested, i.e. erythromycin, oxacillin, penicilin G, tetracycline after this treatment. This suggests that the resistance to these drugs in these isolates may be due to the presence of Resistance plasmids or R-plasmids.
