Survey of Sarcocystis infection in slaughtered cattle at Mother Earth's Prime Beef Slaughterhouse in Angeles City

Cardiac, esophageal and skeletal muscle tissue samples obtained from 120 slaughtered cattle at Mother Earth's Prime Beef Slaughterhouse were examined for the presence of Sarcocystis. The slaughtered cattle consisted of 92 Australian Brahman Breed and 28 Native breed, 115 were males and 5 were females. The age range of the slaughtered cattle ranged between 3 to 5 years. Examination of muscle tissue sample smears of the slaughtered cattle using light microscopy yielded negative for Sarcocystis infection.
