Five sampling stations were chosen to determine which spring water claims to be a better source of drinking water in Nagcarlan, Laguna. The physico-chemical properties and bacteriological quality of drinking water were monitored from October 199 to January 1995. The results of the study were compared to the standards set by the Department of Health (DOH).The following parameters were measured for each water sample: pH, temperature, salinity, conductivity, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, nitrate content, orthophosphate content and bacteriological quality in terms of MPN and presence of fecal coliform. Based on the results obtained, the physico-chemical properties of the water samples conformed with the standard set by the Department of Health (DOH) except in the pH values. It did not meet the required value of pH which is 6.5 - 8.5. Bacteriological quality was determined by detecting the presence of Escherichia coli and the most probable number (MPN)/100ml method. The results of the bacteriological quality assessment of the water samples did not conform with the standard sice all of the water taken from the sampling stations showed the presence of fecal coliforms. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1299 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Drinking water--Contamination Water quality Water--Analysis Bacteria--Identification
