Summary: | The study aims to describe the experience of peer-related isolation in selected De La Salle University freshman students. This includes the perceived contributory factors, accompanying emotions and behaviors, and coping behaviors. The freshmen were sampled via the convenience sampling method and surveyed. The interviewees were chosen among those that had experienced peer isolation and had high introversion scores in 16PF. The results indicated that: Being peer isolated referred to being isolated from a group. The perceived factors that affect peer isolation is lack of confidence, shyness and reserve. The behavior that accompany peer isolation is withdrawal. The coping behaviors in the survey is keeping in contact with old friends, studying and drifting into a group you can belong in. |
