Lead content in leaves of Bougainvillea glabra from three areas in Metro Manila namely Ayala Avenue in Makati, Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila and Bicutan Interchange in Paranaque was studied. These study sites experience heavy traffic volume daily. Comparison of lead content of the three study sites was done in the following months of collection, namely, August 1994, February, March and July 1995. The plant samples were acid digested. Lead was measured through the use of the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) using 217 nn wavelength. Comparison of the lead content in the leaves of Bougainvillea glabra in the three study sites showed Ayala Avenue, Makati as having the highest average lead content in all months of collection (13.85 mg/L). Bicutan Interchange in Paranaque was next with an average lead content of 13.45 mg/L. Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila had the lowest average lead content at 12.58 mg/L.Comparison of lead content in Bougainvillea glabra leaves in the four months of collection showed March as having the highest reading with values at 16.3 mg/L in Makati, 15.8 mg/L in Manila and 15.2 mg/L in Paranaque. July, on the other hand, had the lowest lead content with values at 12.2 mg/L in Makati, 5.0 mg/L in Manila and 12.8 mg/L in Paranaque. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1330 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Lead--Physiological effect Leaves Bougainvillea Plants Effect of lead on Ornamental climbing plants |
