A study on the tracheary elements of Azadirachta indica A. Juss
The secondary wall thickening and perforation plates of the tracheary elements of Azadirachta indica A. Juss. (neem) were studied. The Modified Jeffrey's Method (1940) for maceration of xylem tissues was used. The leaf (midrib and petiole), stem (2nd to 3rd, 8th to 9th, and 14th to 15th interno...

The Modified Jeffrey's Method (1940) for maceration of xylem tissues was used. The leaf (midrib and petiole), stem (2nd to 3rd, 8th to 9th, and 14th to 15th internode), and root (portion near the soil surface and tip) regions were used to represent the different parts of the plant. The tracheary elements were determined whether they were annular, helical, scalariform, reticulate, or pitted types. Only three types were present in the collected and studied samples namely, helical, scalariform, and pitted. The most commonly encountered type in the different parts of the plant was the pitted type of tracheary elements. Both the tracheids and vessels only had simple perforation plates. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1338 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Plant cells and tissues Tracheary cells Xylem Margosa Medicinal plants Azadirachta indica |
