Summary: | Sixty-seven heterotrophic bacterial isolates were obtained from soil samples collected in Pulang lupa, in Makiling. The isolates were characterized according to their colonial and microscopic characteristics. Screening for the antimicrobial property of the isolates was done using Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa as test organisms. Among the isolates, only four exhibited antimicrobial activity against the test organisms. Bacterial isolate F31 showed antimicrobial activity against C. albicans. Isolate F49 exhibited activity against S. aureus. Isolate F54 showed activity against C. albicans, and P. aeruginosa. Isolate F59 exhibited antimicrobial activity against S. aureus. |
