A study of marine gastropod shells was conducted last March, May and September of 1995 at the Locloc point of Sigayan Bay in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas. The study site has a sandy substratum with a few small stones near the shore. Collections were done from mid-morning to afternoon. The area of collection was about 400 meters along the stretch of the beach reaching to about 4 feet deep. A total of 39 species were collected, identified and classified into 2 subclasses, 5 orders, 3 suborders, 12 superfamilies, 20 families and 23 genera. Out of the 39 species, the genus Conus is the most represented with 9 species, namely: C. aulicus, C. ebraeus, C. fulvobulatos, C. litoglyphus, C. imperialis, C. magus, C. moluccensis, C. purpurrascens and C. virgo. There were 3 species under genus Strombus, namely: S. canarium, S. labiatus and S. aurisdianae 3 species under genus Terebra, T. dimidiata, T. maculata, T. subulata 3 species under genus Oliva, O. reticulata, O. mustellma and O. elegans 2 species under genus Lambis, L. scorpius and L. chiragra and 2 species under genus Vexillum, V. rugosum and V. rugosum and V. vulpecula.
