Toxicity of the herbicide glyphosate to golden apple snail (Pomacea sp.)
Acute toxicity tests were conducted using adult golden apple snails (Pomacea sp.) as test organisms. Percent mortality of snails was determined by exposing the snails for 96 hours to different concentrations of Glyphosate (10-50 mg/1). The 96 hour LC50 of Glyphosate was estimated by using the Trimme...

Summary: | Acute toxicity tests were conducted using adult golden apple snails (Pomacea sp.) as test organisms. Percent mortality of snails was determined by exposing the snails for 96 hours to different concentrations of Glyphosate (10-50 mg/1). The 96 hour LC50 of Glyphosate was estimated by using the Trimmed Spearman-Karber Analysis in the EFEL software. A direct relationship was observed between the percent mortality of snails and the concentrations of Glyphosate. Snails exposed to 10 mg/1 of Glyphosate had 1.11% mortality. The 96 hour median lethal concentration (LC50) of Glyphosate to golden miracle snails (Pomacea sp.) was estimated to be 47.17 mg/I. |
