Description
Summary:A study was conducted at the De La Salle University Marine Biological Station to determine the biomass of green (Chlorophyta) and red (Rhodophyta) algae. The different physical and chemical factors that were measured were water temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen and wave action. Collection of species were done in the mangrove area for seven months from June to December in seven different sites. Species of green and red algae were collected and identified. Chlorophytes had the greatest biomass in the third site and least in the first site Rhodophytes were greatest in site 7 and least in site 4.
