Summary: | Asteroids were collected in the intertidal area of Bagasbas Beach, Barangay Bagasbas, Daet, Camarines Norte from morning to late afternoon thrice a month from the month of January to March of 1997. A total of ten species of asteroids were collected, identified, described and classified. Under Order Phanerozonida, two species belong to Family Oreasteridae namely Protoreaster nodosus and P. alveolatus, two species to Family LInckiidae namely Linckia laevigata and Nardoa tuberculata one species belong to Family Archasteridae which is Archaster typicus one species belong to Family Echinasteridae namely Choriaster gramulatus, Culcita novae-guinea and Pentaceropsis tyloderma and one species of Family Ophidiasteridae which is Fromia sp. Linckia laevigata was the most abundant among the other specimen collected while Choriaster granulatus and Culcita novae-guineae were the least species represented. |
