Mice (Mus musculus) lung histology after fourteen days of exposure to sidestream cigarette smoke
The study was conducted to determine the histologic effects of sidestream fumes on mice lung. Twelve mice were subdivided to four sets according to the number of cigarette sticks burned: five (5), ten (10) fifteen (15) and none (0) the control group. Mice were exposed to burning cigarette sticks and...

The study was conducted to determine the histologic effects of sidestream fumes on mice lung. Twelve mice were subdivided to four sets according to the number of cigarette sticks burned: five (5), ten (10) fifteen (15) and none (0) the control group. Mice were exposed to burning cigarette sticks and placed under an enclosed cage. Lung tissue sections were prepared for light microscopy after 2 weeks of exposure. Results showed that exposure of mice to sidestream smoke caused formation of black deposits and accumulation of intracellular luminous deposits. Mice exposed to 15 burning cigarette sticks exhibited corroded alveolar walls and epithelium. The abovementioned observations were also noted in the mice exposed to 5 and 10 burning cigarette sticks, however they were less severe compared with those to 15 sticks. 1997-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1446 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Cigarette smoke Smoke--Physiological effect Lungs--Histology Mice |
