Drug susceptibility patterns of nosocomial Acinetobacter anitratum from cases of the Philippine General Hospital and the conjugative transferability of their drug resistance

Antibiotic sensitivity patterns of nosocomial Acinetobacter anitratum isolated from tracheal aspirates, urine, sputum and blood of patients from the Philippine General Hospital were determined to find out the response of the microorganisms to six antibiotics: nalidixic acid, amikacin, gentamicin, tr...

Antibiotic sensitivity patterns of nosocomial Acinetobacter anitratum isolated from tracheal aspirates, urine, sputum and blood of patients from the Philippine General Hospital were determined to find out the response of the microorganisms to six antibiotics: nalidixic acid, amikacin, gentamicin, trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole, tobramycin and ampicillin/sulbacta. Of the 25 isolates, 24 were found to be resistant to at least one of the test antibiotics, 6 were found to be resistant to four antibiotics, five to three antibiotics and four to two antibiotics. Six isolates were found to be resistant to only one antibiotic. The transfer of the antibiotic resistance traits in these isolates through conjugation was tested. Six of the seven isolates tested were found to transfer resistance to Escherichia coli. 1997-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1465 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Microbial sensitivity tests Microorganisms--Effect of drugs on Nosocomial infections Philippine General Hospital
