Koenig (kamia), all belonging to the family Zingiberaceae were extracted by steam distillation. All three extracts were tested for any inhibitory activity against gram-positive coccus Staphylococcus aureus and gram-negative bacillus Escherichia coli using the Filter Paper Disc-Agar Plate Method. Of the essential oils extracts, Z. officinale gave the widest zone of inhibition against S. aureus and E. coli. C. longa also showed inhibitory property against S. aureus and E. coli. On the other hand, H. coronarium was only observed to inhibit the growth of S. aureus. 1998-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1578 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Extracts Plants Useful Medicinal plants Microbial sensitivity tests Essences and essential oils
