Summary:A survey on Ascaris, Trichuris, and hookworm infection in grade two pupils was conducted at the West Central Public School in Gasak, Meycauayan, Bulacan. The Kato-Thick Smear Method (Appendix A) was used in the preparation of the slides and the identification of the eggs were based on the morphological characteristics such as size, shape, and distinct structures. From a total of 116 samples retrieved, 54 were males and 62 were females. Overall infection of Ascaris and Trichuris were 21.55% (25 cases) adn 19.83% (23 cases) respectively. No hookworm eggs were detected. Mixed infection accounted for 20.69% (24 cases). Infection of Ascaris in males was higher with 22.22% (12 cases) than in females with only 20.97% (13 cases). Furthermore, the occurrence of mixed infection of Ascaris and Trichuris in males was also higher with 25.92% (14 cases) than in females with only 16.13% (10 cases).
