Description
Summary:Pollen grains from flowering plants were collected hapharzadly at three sites in Tagaytay City. Acetolysis and Kisser's method were used in pollen isolation and slide preparation respectively. The morphological characteristic such as the shape, size, presence of spines and furrow and exine surface were examined. A total of 10 species from 6 families were studied. Larger pollen sizes were observed from species belonging to Malvaceae, Graminae and Solanaceae. Pollen size was not significantly different among the species examined, which ranged from spherical to spheroidal. Representative species from Rosaceae, Mimosaceae and Solanacea lacks both spines and furrow. Four pollen types were observed namely periporate, stephanocolporate, tricolpate and polyad.
