Summary:Sponges were collected in Janao Bay, Anilao, Batangas on the 26th and 27th day of November, 1994. Identification was done using the taxonomic keys and descriptions of Bergquist (1978), Caberoy (1981, 1992), and Van Soest (1980). Sixty-seven sponge specimens were collected, all of which belong to Class Demospongiae, and differentiated into eight orders, nine families, ten genera and ten species. The orders represented were Poecilosclerida ( with Family Desmacidonidae Genus Liosina, Liosina granularis), Haplosclerida (with Family Petrosiidae Genus: Petrosia, Petrosia similis and Family Niphatidae Genus Gelliodes, Gelliodes fibulata and Genus Niphates, Niphates amorpha), Dictyoceratida (with Family Spongiidae Genus: Spongia, Spongia officinalis), Dendroceratida (with Family Aplysillidae Genus: aplysilla, Aplysilla sulfurea), Verongida (with Family Verongiidae Genus: Dactylospongia, Dactylospongia elegans), Hadromerida (with Family Spirastrellidae Genus: Spirastrella, Spirastrella vagabunda), Choristidal (with Family Stelletidae Genus: Stelleta, Stelleta communis) and Axinellida (with Family Raspailiidae Genus: Raspailia, Raspailia tenuis).
