Summary: | Morphogenetic responses in leaf and stem explants of Vitex parviflora Juss. such as callus induction and shoot formation were observed under different plant growth regulator treatments. The treatments included MS Medium only (control), two treatments of MS with 40 M or 60 M BA and eight treatments of MS with 40 M BA supplemented with NAA and 2,4-D added singly or in combination at 0.5 M, 7.5 M and 15 M concentrations.
The important role played by plant growth regulators was observed. All treatments except MS alone induced callus formation in leaf and stem explants. Increase in BA concentration produced more callus in leaf and stem explants. Callus in both explants yielded higher callus formation from 0.5 M to 7.5 concentrations of either NAA or 2,4-D alone or in combination. Poor (+) growth quality of callus was observed in treatments with 15 M of 2,4-D.
Shoots also occurred in treatments with BA only, and in treatments with 0.5 M to 7.5 NAA. |
