A study on the histological effects of piroxicam on the kidney of male Mus musculus (white mice)

Piroxicam is a Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug. Different concentrations of piroxicam (2 mg/kg, 4 mg/kg, 6 mg/kg, and 8 mg/kg) were administered with male Mus musculus for two weeks to determine which among these concentrations damaged their kidneys. It was observed that 2 mg/kg and 4 mg/kg body...

Different concentrations of piroxicam (2 mg/kg, 4 mg/kg, 6 mg/kg, and 8 mg/kg) were administered with male Mus musculus for two weeks to determine which among these concentrations damaged their kidneys. It was observed that 2 mg/kg and 4 mg/kg bodyweight of piroxicam have caused minor tubular changes and that the Bowman's space was starting to have clearing out on mice kidneys. Those which were treated with 6 mg/kg and 8 mg/kg bodyweight of piroxicam were observed that their glomeruli are dense and compact and relatively clear Bowman's space. In conclusion, glomerular changes were caused by toxic agents that were filtered by glomeruli. These toxic agents may cause leakage of glomerular filtrate through the tubular walls. 1999-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/1662 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository
