Lung, Hypoplasia, Tracheo-esophageal Fistula (TEF), Congenital Cystic Adenomatoid Malformation (CCAM), and tracheomalacia were the different congenital pulmonary diseases encountered during the study of 60 cases from various hospitals in Metro Manila. Lung Hypoplasia was found to occur together with Diaphragmatic Hernia. Despite indications of possible treatment of the disease in passed studies, none ot the documented cases included in this study were able to survive. Maternal disorders may be suspected as a causative factor to the disease because of its common occurrence together with Lung Hypoplasia but other possible teratogens cannot yet be eliminated. TEF was accompanied by Esophageal Atresia but the correlation between these two anomalies cannot yet be determined. Infections during pregnancy were the leading factors associated with this disease but other teratogens cannot be ruled out. Radiation has been eliminated as a possible causative factor in CCAM. Emphasis on maternal infections as a causative factor must be given. CCAM was seen to occur with Anencephaly and Respiratory Distress Syndrome on separate cases and the correlation of these two disorders with CCAM is not yet clearly undestood.
