The study makes use of the flow-depth rating curves of river segments, existing bank profiles, and water profiles in order to obtain critical depths at different discharges of different return periods. Results show that at a flow of 1,350 m 3/sec (2-year return period) the critical stage in the lake would be 11.0 m. For a 5-year return period, the flow of 1,800 m 3/sec, the critical stage in the lake would be 12.0 m. This indicates that while Manggahan Floodway can accommodate 2,400 m 3/sec, lesser amount of flows would already inundate portions of Taguig at lesser return periods.
